They all have their flaws, but I find sites load faster and run more securely with those three in place. On any given project, I may also use Gravity Forms (paid, but very high-quality forms plugin with support); CMS Tree Page View or similar, to let page-heavy clients get a clean, hierarchical tree view of their pages; and of course bbPress for forums. Can't wait for your book, it is going to be a big help to a lot of aspiring WP devs! Now I'm on it several times a day as a provider of social media services to several of my clients. Love it or hate it, it's here to stay.
