Another option for students going into freelance work( or any work for that matter) is buy an education license right before you graduate. There are no restrictions on what that license is used for, just who can buy it, the EULA does allow commercial work on an education license. Adobe(and Apple) have even in the past run ad campaigns around April/May pushing graduating students to use their discount while they still can. The only problem is when it comes around time to upgrade you would have to buy a full retail license. I think subscription pricing is a great idea. I completely agree — even when I was a kid I was able to shoot off emails to designers and devs all over the country, and everyone was always extremely helpful. In high school I wrote one of my scholarship papers on how I wanted to give back just as much as I've received when I was first coming up as a web designer. I still have a lot of giving to go. Something else we talked about really relates too: we create the future by helping teach those who will create it. If every one of us at least gave a talk to a class (or taught one as you do) we could affect a huge change in the quality of 'web professional education'. I know I want to do more to help students 'level up' and it's a pretty easy thing of me to give an hour or two to do it. I hope this serves as a reminder for more of us that a little can go a long way in the education of others and the betterment of our industry.
